SPOILAGE GO "INDUSTRIAL" ON  "THE ONLY CURE IS ROCK'N ROLL" TOUR

SPOILAGE kick off their 2019 German mini-tour with a date at the unique and wonderful "Werkstatt", a converted factory site on the outskirts of Dreieich, not far from Frankfurt Airport. There is indeed a certain irony that the boys from near Sevenoaks in Kent are playing a town called "Three Oak" when translated into English, but that's rock'n roll karma for you. And don't be fooled by the "industrial" venue and its architecture either, as the Werkstatt boasts a state-of-the-art stage and sound system, as well as fantastic staff and a great loyal public too. Under the tour's moniker "The only cure is rock'n roll", the band intends to blow away the blues of the last week-end of the school summer holidays in Hessen by giving a free admission two-hour blast of live full-throttle music in the "Factory".

Great venue, superb beer, lovely food and a fantastic, knowledgeable public make this one of the best gigs in Europe - we can hardly wait!

2019 tour t-shirtdraft.jpg

The new black German Tour T-Shirt ("The only cure is rock'n roll"") will be availalble from May at the great 2018 price of only

                       €8.00.

IF YOU THOUGHT LAST YEAR WAS BUSY ...

2019 looks like being even busier for the band than 2018, which is great news for all lovers of classic, heritage rock music.  Significant too is the fact than nearly half of this year's gigs are at "new" venues where the band did not play at all last year.  It is always nice to be playing to new faces as well as old friends, so this is a really positive development.

The list opposite gives the full listing as of this moment in time, although further appearances are likely to be added later in the year

KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR THE CORPORATE  MAKEOVER

2019 looks like being even busier for the band than 2018, which is great news for all lovers of classic, heritage rock music.  Significant too is the fact than nearly half of this year's gigs are at "new" venues where the band did not play at all last year.  It is always nice to be playing to new faces as well as old friends, so this is a really positive development.  The list above gives the full listing as of this moment in time, although further appearances are likely to be added later in the year.  Watch out too for a new range of poster and social media designs as part of a "corporate makeover" to bring the band into the 21st century ... even if the band members are somewhat stuck in the previous one!

BUSY 2018 SCHEDULE WITH GERMAN SUMMER HIGHLIGHT

This year looks like one of the busiest yet for the four-piece SPOILAGE line-up, with gigs planned for the usual circuit, plus a number of new venues and the August highlight of three shows in Germany.

The list opposite gives the full listing as of this moment in time, although further appearances are likely to be added later in the year

SPOILAGE GET THE 2-D TREATMENT

Lots of positive feedback received following the publication of artist Tony Tidy's renderings of the band live in action before Christmas 2017 - they are truly brilliant.  And the musicians look far better than they do in reality too!

                               Thursday,  May 3, 2018

The new German Tour grey T-Shirt ("Forget the App. Let's rock!") is now available for €8.00.

SPOILAGE GET SOME GREAT PRESS IN GERMANY THANKS TO THE WONDERFUL SEPPEL!

The band got some great recent publicity in the South Hessen press in Germany thanks to an interview given by the Biergarten Nickelsmühle's proprietor and music promoter, Seppel Bonaffini.

The article shows just how fortunate the band is to be playing such a prestigious venue which is incredibly hard to get into as a performing band.  It also shows what a lovely bloke "Seppi" is as well  ... if only there were a few more people like him in the music industry.

Great venue, superb beer, lovely food and a fantastic, knowledgeable public make this one of the best gigs in Europe - we can hardly wait!

SPOILAGE TO PLAY THE "GARDEN"???

As mentioned earlier this year, the band will indeed be playing in Germany after all this summer, making two separate appearances at music venues in the Frankfurt area at the end of June / beginning of July.  The first of these is a club gig near the town centre, the second is at the "Garden"! OK, it might not be the Madison Square variety, but it is indeed picturesque and serves the best beer south of the River Main. Called the "Biergarten Nickelsmühle", it is situated just off the A5 Autobahn south of Frankfurt in the small town of Weiterstadt.

"Prost!"

SPOILAGE TO PLAY SATURDAY DATE

AT PRESTGIOUS "ANGELFEST" IN MAY

Lots of news in spring 2017, as the band embarks on a busy schedule of dates culminating in an appearance at the prestigious "Angelfest" at Tonbridge Angels Football Club on Saturday, May 27, 2017.  More information on the spring dates can be found by clicking below or visiting the "NEWS" page on this website.

It is with great sadness that the band bids a farewell to guitarist / singer Nick Wickens who has had to call it a day in terms of live performance with the band.  After playing on and completing a gig early last year whilst suffering a heart attack on stage, and also contemplating surgery on other parts of his anatomy in the meantime.  Nick will make a cameo valedictory appearance at Angelfest in May and doubtless continue his love affair with the guitar in his garage studio, whilst his interim replacement, Mark Mullen, takes up the reins in April ..... watch this space.

And last not least .......... it appears that the band may be back in Germany this summer for a club appearance rather than a live festival.  Details will be confirmed as and when things become concrete, but at least an indoors gig is reasonably weatherproof

NIEDERHÖCHSTADT CALLING .....

SPOILAGE HIT GERMANY FOR

"TIME TO ROCK" SUMMER GIGS

The big news is that the band will be back in Eschborn

(and Germany)  for the first time since 2012, so fingers

crossed for the weather and for a half decent showing

by the England football team in the Euros in France ...

... one of the downsides of festivals in "even" years is

that it gives the hospitable German hosts ample

opportunity to take the mick big time if Roy Hodgson's

team makes the usual early exit from an international

tournament.

Bet hey ... if the sun shines and there is a crate of

cold German beer waiting at the back of the stage,

does anybody really mind that much?

For the record, the band will play gigs on consecutive

evenings -

FRIDAY, JULY 15, 2016, and

SATURDAY, JULY 16, 2016.

JUNE WARMS UP ... FOR SUMMER IN GERMANY

A bit like with London buses, gigs often don't come along in ones or twos ... but quite often "threes", all of which should help the band get in gear during June for the open air concerts in Germany the following month:

SATURDAY, JUNE 3, 2016

The Six Bells, Chiddingly

SATURDAY, JUNE 10, 2016

Earl's, Maidstone

Saturday, June 17, 2016

The Barley Mow, Tandridge

Thursday, April 21, 2016

MAD MARCH ...

The 6-in-1 Club, Tonbridge

FRIDAY, MARCH 18, 2016

HAPPY NEW YEAR ... BACK AT "EARLS"

No better place to start rocking out the New Year in 2016 than the band's spiritual home in Maidstone, so get down to Earl Street to blow away the back-to-work blues of early January on Friday the 8th ...

Thursday, December 31, 2015.

MANIC 9 DAYS IN DECEMBER ...

The band embarks on a hectic mini tour before Christmas with four gigs in nine days, covering the East Sussex coast to the outskirts of London ...  all of which should keep the band's bass + drums engine room in festive spirits  as in the photo below.  The December dates are as follows:

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2015

The Ypres Castle Inn, Rye

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2015

The Southborough Club

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2015

The Barley Mow, Tandridge

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2015

Parklangley Club, Beckenham                                                                                                      Tuesday, December 1, 2015.

STITCHED UP IN MAIDSTONE ?

A nice shot of the band coming offstage in Maidstone in early September, noteworthy above all for the drummer's intellectual T-shirt and the bass player sporting 6 stitches in  a face wound.  Just don't mess with these guys ...

Tuesday, September 15, 2015.

SPOILAGE GOES "GREEN"... ?

Well ... not exactly, more like SPOILAGE goes TO the Green ... "Green Street Green", to be precise, to play a new venue, "The Rose and Crown", an excellent Young's establshment just inside the M25.  And on a Bank Holiday week-end too.  The band will be rocking out from 21.00.

Wednesday, August 26, 2015.

SCHOOL'S OUT ...

A brief break in action during the latter part of July will be followed by the band's return to "The Swan" at West Wickham in early August, just a day before the start of the new soccer season.  Will it still be sunglasses weather for guitarist Nick Wickens, as ever under the thumb of front man, Alan Ribchester, pictured right?

Wednesday, July 8, 2015.

THE CAMERA NEVER LIES ...

Three years ago this month the band were performing at the Stadt- und Museumsfest in Heringen an der Werra in central Germany. This image captures the somewhat loose interpretation of the term "sound check", as there appear to be more beer glasses on show that musical instruments.  More to the point ... there is no sign of the pizza which allegedly led to the drummer's temporary incapacitation the following morning - odd, that, eh?

Monday, June 22, 2015.

SPOILAGE BACK IN MAIDSTONE

As mentioned above, the band are back at one of their "spiritual homes", EARLS in Maidstone, on Friday, June 19, 2015, with the usual start time of 21.30.  If you are in the area, come along and enjoy one of Kent's very best live music venues ... and one of its loudest too!

Friday, June 5, 2015.

6-BELLS in CHIDDINGLY

The band return for their second date in five weeks at the ever wonderful "6 Bells" in Chiddingly, where the mighty and famous (Jeff Beck, Keith Emerson, Dr. Feelgood and a plethora of others) have also performed over the years. Put the date in the diary now. - Saturday, July 4, 2015.

VIEW FROM THE BACKLINE

This has to be one of the all-time favourite photos in terms of "what the drummer sees", as it was taken from the drum riser in Germany in 2012 and also captures some of our favourite people.  Besides the drummer himself, you can also see the lovely Siobhan Harle, Klaus Lehr and driver Phil Killeen, all trying to reduce the beer stocks in the Federal Republic on a warm Saturday evening in August.
